The folks who “invented” the Dollar s are daily helping the working poor in their struggle to make financial ends meet. We can buy all the “basic necessities” at the Dollar s; and, since there is at least one Dollar in every neighborhood in the United States, we don’t have to mortgage the house for the money to buy the gas to go grocery shopping at stores we cannot afford!
Many, many Dollar s have expanded their food inventory to now include milk, dairy, bread, and frozen foods. For the purposes of this cookbook, we will use only ingredients found in “your basic Dollar .” If anything must be purchased from a non-basic Dollar inventory, it will be marked with an asterisk (*). Chances are, your Dollar has expanded to include many, if not all, of the asterisked items.

Author’s note This cookbook will not contain information on calories, fat grams, carbohydrates, etc. Most of the country is operating right now in “survival mode,” so if you want nutritional information, you can take a vitamin and figure it out for yourself!

I was looking for a new cook book. I saw one for the dollar store. I thought it would be helpful for my mom. I had shopped at the dollar store; however never saw more than two complete ideas for cooking from scratch.
Too much emphasis on tuna, mackerel and sardines. Of no help to anyone who is not a fish/seafood eater such as myself. Also, author seems to be extremely hostile in her writing. Wish I could get my money back.
Who would have thought you could get so many ideas for recipes and menus from the dollar store? Granted, a lot of the food is canned or processed. But many of the ideas are more healthy than I would have expected.
Gives good ideas for Dollar meals!!
