Hank McConnell's is having a bad day at the office. First, he just destroyed history. He finds himself living in the Confederate States of America, Lincoln was convicted as a war criminal, and slavery existed for another 50 years. Secondly, his blunder erased his family from existence and his alternate self works as a lonely tenured professor instead of at the Historical Preservation Agency.

He doesn't have much time. He travels back to Lincoln's presidency to right what went wrong. Unfortunately, correcting time is like herding cats and one fix leads to more and more changes.

Is he willing to do the unthinkable to make the world whole again?

Time Historian (Audible Audio Edition) Regina Morris J Bruce Books

Competently written and with an interesting perspective on time travel. Evocative of Connie Willis' Doomsday Book, with less tragedy and emotional wrenching, but more mystery. The author has gone to some trouble to research the time period and present it to the reader accurately, even things that might grate a little on modern ears. It's definitely light reading, but in a good way.

Time Historian (Audible Audio Edition) Regina Morris J Bruce Books Reviews

When a recording job goes horribly wrong and changes the future and the course of events that happen in Hank's life, what does he do? We'll find out in this second book of the series! When the HPA tries to retrieve a recording device that was sent back to the White House when it was called the Presidential Palace and Lincoln was President, something happened that the recorder did not come back in one piece. Hank is sent back in time to figure out what happened and why. I could not put this book down, needing to keep reading. I was riveted to the book and the things that Hank endured, saw, heard, and did while he was back in that time period. Why does Hank need to go back? Who else shows up back in that timeframe that caused the issues to begin with? How does Hank fix the timeline issue as much as he can when things go horribly awry? Seeing the intrigue, and everything that could happen and how the timelines change depending upon certain actions was a blast to read. I hope the next book comes out pretty quick! I'm hooked on this series!

I had a good time listening to this wonderful story.
Mr. Bruce has a clear and precise sounding voice.
He definitely made this story very enjoyable.
I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Not at all what I expected in a time travel novel. The level of technology explained is great, I mean if you are going to time travel you need to have some back up and controls, as well as a way to make sure everything you do doesn't wreck the future you know. I was really impressed with how well it was thought through and executed. And totally surprised and pleased at the ending. I enjoyed reading it.
I enjoy books about time travel & the premise of this book was interesting. However, I felt that the beginning of the book was lacking in the reasons for the whole story.

The book jumps right into a situation where an organization is sending a recording device back to President Lincoln's time, but we are never told why this recording needs to be made. When something goes wrong with the recording, history is altered.

Immediately, Hank is sent back in time to set history back to the "correct" timeline. He seems very ill prepared to make this journey, but is sent back in time. Also, before he is sent back, he is injected with a poison which will kill him in 48 hours unless he comes back to his time for the antidote. Why? This is never explained.

The story is interesting & anytime there is time travel involved, even the most innocent comment can alter the whole course of history. However, I think that the set up for the story is weak & the necessity of Hank's time travel is never fully explained. Also, after a lot of build up, the ending seems a little rushed. A good book, but it could have been so much better.
Great will read again
I found this book very stimulating. The plot was very different and thought provoking. The author has a talent for putting the reader right in the room where the action is. If you are looking for a fun, light, easy and entertaining read, this is the book for you.
